Martin and Edwards Both Vow to Stay
Expect two guys to be back with the team next season, as both Herman Edwards and Curtis Martin announced to the media that they plan on coming back next year. Edwards, who has been surrounded by stories of his departure, spoke strong and loud about his return to the team.

"Maybe I didn't say it loud enough or hard enough," he said yesterday. "I'm going to be here as long as I can be here. Hopefully, it's my whole career, and I don't have to go anywhere else to be quite honest with you. I've got a lot invested here," Edwards said. "There are a lot of things we've done as an organization, not just on the football field, but off the football field, in the community, in this building. That's a lot of sweat."

That's Herm's strongest statement yet about his desire to return and "finish the job." I still think it's something to keep an eye on though, as things seem to change when the season is over.

If Edwards does stay, he'll have Curtis Martin back here with him also. CMart vowed to return next season as well.

"There's no doubt about that," the Jets' rushing king said matter-of-factly. "Having this year not go the way you really want it to go, it's almost like you say, 'Damn, I have to play next year.'"

All I know is, the team better not count on him being the number one running back again next season. At least without a guy that can platoon with Martin, perhaps Cedric Houston or another draft pick from 2006. There is some guy named Reggie Bush from USC that could be available when the Jets pick in April. It wouldn't be a bad deal to have Bush learn for a year from CMart, while splitting carries with him.
