Andrea and Fred's site on "the knot"

http://weddings.theknot.com/pwp/view/co_main.aspx?coupleid=3261106001504375

Taken from "theknot.com":

Fred and I met at Rockefeller Center in New York on September 24 at approximately 5 or 6 am while we were standing amidst a crowd of people waiting to hear Sting perform songs for the Today Show. The conversation, which lasted all of 5 minutes or so, centered around the topic of favorite Sting albums, and I knew I had met my match when he agreed that The Soul Cages is Sting's masterpiece. Two months passed, when as fate would have it, I ran into Fred again outside The Beacon Theater (for another Sting concert, of course). We recognized each other, conversed with each other, and not 10 minutes later, met Sting together. The rest, as they say, is history.....

The Big D Has No Power!

Norina drove by the house this morning and took some pictures to see if the power was connected. As you can see from the photo's, it looks like they didn't even touch it.

These are the first pictures of the Big D since the property has been cleared and the house put on the property.

Pictures of a bunch of Kids...

Picture from my 3rd birthday party in 1976. Nice shirt huh...

Ok, so my first two posts to my new blog are pretty stupid, but isn't that the point, "To express myself".

I've been told my son, David, looks just like me at age 3. You be the judge and comment on this article if you agree.

Here is a picture of Andrea, my sister. I've been told my daughter, Carolyn, looks just like her and my wife Norina.

Erik, Why are you called the "Mad Hungarian"?

I have been asked why I call myself the "Mad Hungarian" over and over, so I'll give an explanation. Back in 1997 while working at epix, we started a softball team called the "Bulldawgs". My boss at the time, Kirk, always had these tidbits of useless information, and would tell these stories.

During one game, my brother Mike was playing next to me in Center field and a ball was hit directly at me. Mike comes flying over and cuts me off to make the catch. I guess we were going at it and making a ton of noise, so when we came off the field, Kirk called us the Mad Hungarians.

So being hungarian, and the personality I have, I refer to myself online as "The Mad Hungarian. Here is an explanation I found online about the real "Mad Hungarian", Al Hrabosky, for whom Kirk dubbed us with the name:

"A blazing fastball, used 90 percent of the time, made Hrabosky one of the most effective relievers of the 1970's. The southpaw's nickname, The Mad Hungarian, came from his nationality, Fu Manchu mustache and long hair, and angry stomping to the back of the mound to psych himself up."

Sparta Theatre to be sold

Found this on the net, did you guys know about this?

Herald Staff Writer

A local developer is committed to buying the Sparta Theatre, but is not sure about future plans for the building in the Theatre Centre on Woodport Road.

Nouvelle Associates LLC, of Sparta, has been before the township Planning Board with a concept plan and has said it will move forward with the purchase.

The theater has been in existence for more than 50 years and is currently owned by Planned Investment Equities. One of the company's owners, Dennis Shuman, said the theater is under contract, but is pending a closing date.

"There are no firm plans of what it will be used as," Shuman said. "That will be between the new owner and the leasee."

The theater has been leased by the Guttenberg-based Galaxy Theatre Corp. for around eight years, "We still have about two and a half years left on our lease and we are negotiating to extend it another five years," Galaxy owner Nelson Page said. Peter D'Antonio, co-owner of Nouvelle Associates, said he expects the sale to close by the end of the year. "We're at the point where we want to follow through with the purchase," D'Antonio said. "Where it evolves from here depends on conversations with the current owner and tenant. We are bound by their lease."

D'Antonio said the company is not sure what type of business will occupy the building but is open to possibilities. "We will work with the tenants," D'Antonio said. "There are a number of possibilities and nothing is nailed down yet." Possibilities include negotiating with Galaxy, letting its lease expire or renewing its lease, D'Antonio said.

Nouvelle Associates has held a concept meeting with the township to explore the idea of turning the theater into a restaurant. "We wanted to see if the town would permit it before we decided to finalize the purchase," D'Antonio said. "We don't know if that is what will go there. Right now, there is no one committed to the building besides the current tenant."

Galaxy also leases Newton Theatre, the only other movie theater in the county. It would not be viable for someone to purchase only the Sparta Theatre, Page said.
"One theater in Sussex County can't survive," Page said. "Between the two we do nicely, but owning one would not be profitable."

Mortgage rates rise; 30-year at 5.85%

NEW YORK (Reuters) — Mortgage rates rose last week as the Federal Reserve continued to increase its target for short-term interest rates.

The Mortgage Bankers Association said Wednesday that fixed 30-year mortgage rates rose to an average of 5.85%, excluding fees, compared with 5.81% in the previous week and 5.64% in early September.

While the fixed 30-year mortgage rate is below its 2005 high of 6.08% reached in late March, it is above the 2005 low of 5.47% of late June. It is also higher than where it stood a year ago when the rate was 5.64%.

Fixed 15-year mortgage rates last week averaged 5.44%, up from 5.38% the previous week. Rates on one-year adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs) increased to 5.02% from 4.94%.
With ARMs, low initial payments allow borrowers to buy homes they may not be able to afford with a fixed-rate loan.

The Fed is increasingly concerned about the red-hot housing market, which has been setting records for five years. Interest rates on 30-year mortgages have unexpectedly remained under 6% even as the Fed has raised short-term rates 11 times since June 2004 to 3.75%, supporting home sales.

Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan has been speaking out about the use of risky mortgage products, such as interest-only loans, to buy expensive homes that people otherwise couldn't afford.

The group's survey covers about 50% of all U.S. retail residential mortgage originations. Respondents include mortgage bankers, commercial banks and thrifts.

'Madden' bug makes NFL player tiny

HA! This is too funny! It figures that this would be a Jets guy!

Given professional athletes' penchant for ribbing each other mercilessly over even the smallest transgression or imperfection, New York Jets lineman Michael King is probably having a rough time of it these days.

Due to a bug in a recent update to Electronic Arts' best-selling football title, "Madden 2006," King can be seen in the game as a tiny, 7-inch-tall version of himself.

According to Phil Frazier, a "Madden" producer, the bug was the result of a typo in the spreadsheet that lists player attributes such as weight, height and team affiliation. Frazier explained that the spreadsheet is designed to accept players' heights in inches, and therefore expects a two-digit entry.

Pennington might not have torn rotator cuff

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2174341

League sources from within and also outside of the New York Jets' organization told ESPN's Chris Mortensen and ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli on Tuesday that orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews apprised franchise officials and Chad Pennington that the quarterback may not have suffered a torn rotator cuff, as originally diagnosed by team physicians during an MRI exam on Monday.

Tailgate at the Jets/Jags Game - Week 3

Andrea, Fred, Adam (Mike's College Roomate), and his current roomate joined the regulars at the tailgate for the Jags-Jets game for week 3. Roy, my father and myself. Rob Jaspon has been missing in action for the 2005 season so far! ROB COME BACK, WE MISS YOU!

The day, as you can see, was a little overcast, but not too bad and most of us were wearing shorts (expect for Andrea), who also had on layers and sweaters.

You can see in this picture, that this will probably be the last time that Dad wears the number 10 jersey. We ALL found out that Pennington is done for the season, and maybe his career. I'm actually pretty bummed out about it because I thought this guy had all the potential in the world but really never showed his full potential. They were calling him the NEXT "Joe Montanna", and I always thought that was a little too much pressure.

So, the team is in panic mode and we signed Vinny Testeverde to SAVE our season. I personally think it was a good move (our ONLY move) and the management did a great job. We will be starting the next game against the Ravens, Brooks Bollinger only because Vinny won't be ready to go.

Andrea and Fred asked my wife and I to be in the wedding at this tailgate. I called Norina on the cell and broke the news to her. She was pretty excited as our entire family will now be in the wedding.

Mike is also going to be in the wedding.

My Cousin Deanna has a Blog!

I spoke with Deanna on Google talk and mentioned that it's pretty easy to setup a blog using GBlogger from Google. Here is her site: http://www.sternefeld.com/blog/

Andrea and Fred, you should set one up if you don't have one already. Dad, you would need to get a computer first! ;)
